"Erotic" is a 1992 song by Madonna. It was available in the form of a promotional, single-track CD that accompanied her infamous Sex book. The track was produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone at the end of the Erotica album sessions, when Pettibone had the idea to produce a stripped-down version specially for the publication. The version that came with Sex was quite different from "Erotica", the song from which it gained inspiration; "Erotic" has less instrumentation and completely different lyrics. The CD came in a special re-sealable mylar wrapper sleeve resembling a condom. "Erotic" has never been commercially re-released. A remix by William Orbit found on the maxi CD/12" single of "Erotica" comes close using the alternate lyrics. The CD is long out-of-print and is a sought-after Madonna collector's item.
