Ernst Ludwig von Gerlach
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ludwig von Gerlach (born 7 March 1795, died February 18, 1877), sometimes called Ernst, was a Prussian judge, politician, and editor who was involved, in 1848, in the founding of Kreuzzeitung, a conservative newspaper. The paper became the main artery for the Prussian Conservative Party's ideas, and it opposed Bismarck's plans for German unification during the 1860s and '70s. [1]
From 1813 to 1815, he fought in the Liberation Wars, and later pursued a judicial career. Ludwig became Judge of the High Court, or Oberlandesgerichtsrat, in the city of Naumburg, in 1823. In 1829, Ludwig became Agricultural and Municipal Court Director in Hall. By 1835, Ludwig was the Vice President of the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt an der Oder.
