Ernest Brudenell-Bruce, 3rd Marquess of Ailesbury

Ernest Augustus Charles Brudenell-Bruce III Marquess of Ailesbury, (January 8, 1811 – October 18, 1886) was an English nobleman. He was the second son of Charles Brudenell-Bruce, 1st Marquess of Ailesbury, and was known as Lord Ernest Brudenell-Bruce from 1821 until 1878, when he succeeded his brother.
Lord Ernest was educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was a MP for Marlborough from 1832–1878, and also held several official posts, becoming Lord of the Bedchamber (1834–1835), a Privy Counsellor in 1841, Vice-Chamberlain of the Household (1841–1846, 1852–1858) and Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire (1884–1886).
He married the Hon. Louisa Elizabeth Horsley-Beresford on November 25, 1834. They had seven children:
- Lady Louisa Caroline Brudenell-Bruce (d. December 1894), married Sir Henry Meux, 2nd Baronet
- Lady Ernestine Mary Brudenell-Bruce (d. December 27, 1936), married William Hare, 3rd Earl of Listowel
- Lieutenant George John Brudenell-Bruce (May 15, 1839 – May 28, 1868), married Evelyn Mary Craven and had issue George William Thomas Brudenell-Bruce, 4th Marquess of Ailesbury
- James Ernest Brudenell-Bruce (June 30, 1840 – June 21, 1876), no issue
- Henry Augustus Brudenell-Bruce, 5th Marquess of Ailesbury (April 11, 1842 – March 10, 1911)
- Commodore Lord Robert Thomas Brudenell-Bruce (January 25, 1845 – February 15, 1912), married Emma Leigh and had issue
- Major Lord Charles Frederick Brudenell-Bruce (March 4, 1849 – May 31, 1936), married Margaret Renshaw without issue
