Eric Harry Timothy Mabius (born April 22, 1971) is an American actor. He is known for his film and television roles, including Ugly Betty, The L Word and Cruel Intentions.

Mabius was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Elizabeth and Craig Mabius.[1] He has a brother, Craig.[2] Mabius is Catholic[3] and has Irish, Austrian and Polish ancestry.[4][5] After attending Amherst Regional High School, in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he was voted "Most Dramatic Boy" as a senior, he enrolled in Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York, where he pursued studies in film.

Mabius and his girlfriend Ivy Sherman were married in January 2006, and have a son, Maxfield Elliot.[6] The two first met in high school during a health education class.[7] They are currently expecting their second child [1]

Mabius began his career in 1995 with Welcome to the Dollhouse, an art-house movie which starred Heather Matarazzo, followed by I Shot Andy Warhol, with Lili Taylor, in 1996. He was involved with The Crow franchise on more than one occasion: he auditioned for a role as one of Top Dollar's henchmen in the 1993 original Crow and played Alex Corvis in The Crow: Salvation, the third installment, opposite Kirsten Dunst., His biggest film role to date is as an activist called Matt Addison in Resident Evil. In television, Mabius has appeared on Chicago Hope, Millennium, Popular, The O.C., and the short-lived series Eyes. He was a regular cast member of The L Word in its first season and returned for one episode in each of the second and third. He also guest starred on an episode of CSI Miami.

As of 2006, he appears in the ABC TV series, Ugly Betty, as Daniel Meade, the fashion magazine editor boss and friend of star America Ferrera's character. After the success of Ugly Betty, he was named one of the sexiest men alive by People Magazine.

Mabius made an appearance in the pro Barack Obama music video by Will.i.am called "We are the ones" alongside Jessica Alba, Macy Gray, George Lopez, Ryan Phillippe, Kerry Washington, John Leguizamo, Tichina Arnold, Regina King, Tyrese Gibson, Adrianne Palicki and Zoe Kravitz. [8]
