Elmstein is a municipality in the district of Bad Dürkheim , in Rhineland-Palatinate, in western Germany.
Elmstein is approximately 12 kilometers from Neustadt an der Weinstrasse by rail. The railway is now a heritage railway operated by a steam train. Access is also possible by road, although the road is a small one and, following a spate of accidents, motor bikes are banned from using the road at weekends except where ridden by Elmstein valley residents.
