Hey, good job to those who are editing the height, weight and measurements to include both English and metric systems (since some people are familiar with only one of the two). If it's alright with you I'd like to help with that. Photon shermie 23:20, 15 April 2006
[edit] Pronunciation
To my knowledge, the way to signify the stress of syllables with phonetic transcription in English is to capitalize the stressed syllables. For instance, the word 'computer', phonetically, would be com-PYOO-ter (not COM-pyoo-ter or com-pyoo-TER, since the stress in that word is on the middle syllable). English likes to stress the first syllable, but thanks to our strange linguistic history, the stress can fall almost anywhere, and some words have more than one stress or none at all.
French, almost 100% of the time, stresses the final syllable, and thus you get ae-lee-za-BET for Elisabeth. One exception is with many compound words, like 'blanctorche' would be. In that case, both parts of the compound word would be stressed. Therefore, you get BLOHN-TORSH. Sure, it looked like I hit my caps lock by mistake when I wrote ae-lee-za-BET BLOHN-TORSH, but it was intended. I suggest it be changed back to that notation (unless, of course, I got the conventions wrong ;) --RemiCogan

- Would do it like that, but practically no one knows it nor has the inkling to learn it. Plus, even the dictionary I have here (Webster's New World Third College) doesn't use it, I'd guess for the same reason. Furthermore, you get this from Angel's page: "(pronounced ahn-hell as per the Spanish pronunciation of the word)". That article uses pronunciation respelling, which is what I did initially (I said phonetic transcription above. Got my terms mixed up :^B ). Maybe it's not totally pro, but it's used in mass media and is much more functional for this venue, I'd argue . . . I'll leave it as is for now. Silly suggestion, maybe?: have an IPA spelling and pronunciation respelling for each character's profile . . . --RemiCogan

It looks like her name in official publications is "Elisabeth Branctorche". Elisabeth is the more common spelling in French, so I'll change that on the page. Branctorche was probably a mistranscription due to the whole l and r thing . . . so I'd say it should continue to be Blanctorche in the article. --RemiCogan
[edit] What's up with Ash and Elisabeth

Though that's the popular presumption, it's still that (a presumption). Even though events present tons of evidence that The Hero Team's Ash is beyond just being a jerk and into villain territory, his ultimate goal remains unknown. The writers could very, very easily turn him into a real hero right at the last moment in KOF XII without resorting to retcons, deus ex machina, or other labored narrative devices. Especially with the popularity of twist endings in cinema, TV, and literature at the moment, I wouldn't put it past them. Until they finally reveal the resolution, no one can say exactly what he's up to other than that he intends to steal all the Three Sacred Treasures; what he'll do with them is yet a complete mystery.
Similarly, what is known about Elisabeth remains vague. She (apparently) reluctantly inserted herself into KOF, was in league with Ash on some mission, and has professed to defeat him. Again, their shared mission probably has something to do with the sacred treasures and orochi, but the given information can't even eliminate the possibility that their mission was completely unrelated to KOF and that she's just angry that Ash is goofing off. If nothing else, her appearance in Another Day at least highlights the fact that there's a boatload (pun intended) of things we still don't know about Ash, Elisabeth, their relationship, their original mission, and their ultimate goals.
When I wrote "Her true goals, allegiances, and information sources remain unknown" (previous version) in conjunction with her cameo, it was not my intention to insinuate anything more than these knowledge gaps exist; I wasn't suggesting that this should "be taken to mean that she has gone back on her word, and is working with Ash now." (previous version) A wide variety of possibilities could unfurl from the current situation: she could be taken at face value, that she's the white knight to Ash's black knight; she could be secretly supporting Ash, whether he's really a villain or a hero; she could be the villain and Ash the hero. As for the boat appearance, she could be there to talk him into stopping his rampage, or maybe as an accomplice, or maybe she snuck on the boat and Ash had just noticed her before she tried assassinating him after the camera cut from them, or Falcoon's toying with us mercilessly. . . who knows!--and that's the point! This is true and not unheard of as most fans know by now. For example, Lin's character came to us out of nowhere with a completely unknown storyline. After much research and months after KOF 2001 had been realeased in the US we finally find out about him and his relation with the equally cloudy storylined Ron. But, even now we have Duo Lon's character who also has his relation's with Ron and Lin (now found out to be Ron's son) who's story raises even more questions. And now Lin (who presumebly hated Ron) seemes to be in an aliance with Ron (revealed during the Neo Pyscho Soldiers Team's ending). SNK has, to their credit, been developing one deep and intertwining storyline sense after KOF 97. Elisabeth seems to now be our new Lin. In fact, wasn't Lin part of the Benimaru team and conected to those years' antagonists too? Sabishii_Kage 06:55, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
