Elipsos

Elipsos is a joint venture between the French national railroad, SNCF, and the Spanish national railroad, RENFE. It was created in 2001 to handle the logistics of Trenhotel railway services between Spain and France, Switzerland, and Italy.

The Elipsos bed carriages are operated by Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits and by the different national railway companies. In France the train is pulled by an SNCF locomcotive, in Italy by a Trenitalia one, in Spain by a RENFE one and in Switzerland by an SBB CFF FFS one.

The Francisco de Goya departs Paris every night except Saturday at 19:43 local time. During the long journey to Madrid station, customers can enjoy a 3 course meal in the lounge car, including a free bottle of wine.

The train generally has these classes:

  • Superreclining seat
  • Tourist Class (4-bed accommodation)
  • Club Class (1- or 2-bed accommodation with breakfast included)
  • Grand Class (1- or 2-bed accommodation with shower/WC, dinner and breakfast included)
