[edit] History

Fremantle has been held by Labor members since 1924. The member prior to Jim McGinty was David Parker, who served as Deputy Premier under Premier Peter Dowding from February 1988 until February 1990, when he was compelled to resign over his association with the financial scandals collectively known as WA Inc[1]. He was later convicted of charges relating to misuse of party funds.
