Description

Three Grumman WF-2 Tracer aircraft of airborne early warning squadron VAW-11 Early Eleven (BuNos 148137, 148143, and 148144). VAW-11 with its tail code "RR" was deployed from 1959 to 1967 on the Essex-class carriers of the US Pacific Fleet. Each Carrier Air Wing was assigned a detachment of three to four aircraft. In 1962 the WF-2 was redesignated E-1B but it kept its popular name Willy Fudd. On 20 April 1967 VAW-11 was also redesignated as VAW-111.
