Welcome to WikiProject Trains
Hello and welcome to the Trains WikiProject! Thank you for adding your name to our project membership list. Our goal is to build the most comprehensive and detailed guide to rail transport on Wikipedia. As a project member, you may add the project membership userbox to your user page if you wish.
If you haven't done so already, please add our main project page to your watchlist and take some time to review the Trains project manual of style where we have collected guidelines and suggestions on notability and style for a consistent representation of rail transport related material. If you're curious about where to start, we've gathered a few suggestions in the Trains project to do list. If you'd like to specialize in a particular area of study within rail transport, take a look at the current Trains project task forces.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the project talk page or on my talk page. Again, welcome and happy editing! Slambo (Speak) 10:41, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Experimenting with an auto-reader script. It didn't work :( No harm was done nor was any intended.

Image source problem with Image:Walter Tetley (Tetzlaff).jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Walter Tetley (Tetzlaff).jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:14, 9 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Re:Your page header has been ripped
Just writing to let you know that your graphical page header has been ripped and is currently being used here. I have even noticed that all the links point to your page as well. Just thought you might like to know. This user has also done the same in ripping his page from another user as well.

- Thank you for the note, but he didn't rip anything. That was a sample available to everyone to assist in the development of their user pages. Please see User:The Transhumanist/User page design/Menus. I guess he didn't figure out that he needed to replace the links so that they point to his pages rather than mine. Ironically, that menu doesn't appear on the menu resource page, because it is commented out, because I couldn't get it to work. Please take a look at the User Page Design Center, and let me know what you think. The Transhumanist
Wikipedia Users' Alliance
Please note: this message is being sent out to all involved parties. Dear Friend, the Wikipedia Users’ Alliance has been deleted. I am sure that perhaps you already knew this. I myself just found out. Anyhow during the debate many mean and rude things where said. I am not innocent myself; I too contributed to the unpleasantness. But now Wikipedia Users’ Alliance is dead, gone forever. But we all must move on, for me and my friends, we have to deal with this loss. However it is important that all of us work together to fight vandalism and not argue with one another. There are many things that I want to say, but I know that they would only add to the mean sprit that fills the “air”. As a Buddhist (Risshō Kōsei Kai) I was reading the Holy Dhammapada yesterday. I came across this line, “Holding onto anger is like holding on to a hot coal with the intent to throw it at someone, in the end you are the one who gets burned,” how true! Lets us progress forward. WUA Founder User: King of Nepal has expressed similar views such as these to me via e-mail. His majesty said, “We have to move on, move forward. It is in the best interest of Wikipedia and us all.” I agree and hope that you do to. Thanks.--Greenwood1010 12:55, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Co-founder of the WUA. Sean Avery
Hello,
I was curious as to why you felt that my edit on NHL player Sean Avery's page was vandalism. I contacted Sniperz11 since he had thanked me for a contribution and being that I'm new to this I was not aware that he wasn't the person I was to go to as opposed to you. He informed me to contact you, that you felt that my edit was vandalism and he was unaware of why as well. I added Avery's OHL and AHL stats but didn't add them to his NHL totals on the bottom, similar to how it is on Brendan Shanahan's wiki. By the way, I made the edit under User:......, thanks. Redfzn 05:08, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
This is the edit I'm referring to. Redfzn 05:14, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I apologize for misunderstanding your edits. The reason that I thought it was vandalism was because there were several edits from your IP previously that day, followed by a revert and a warning from another user, at a glance it looked like cut and paste from another article. There were also no edit summaries on any of your submissions, please try to use them in the future it helps everyone understand your intent as well as helping you keep notes of your own edits. (I learned the hard way too..) Again, I apologize, I am human and I do make mistakes.. Welcome to Wikipedia. --DP67 (talk/contribs) 06:57, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Please be sure to comply with the usage permissions for these photos as posted at http://www.trainweb.org/oldmainline I have corrected the two photos mentioned; please correct the attributions of any others you may have uploaded, and keep in mind there is a quantity limit. I've fixed up User:Dp67/Templates/Test. I'm not sure the image looks good at 300px; we can change it to a smaller default size for the default image (but not a regular image) if you think that would be better. Mackensen (talk) 15:26, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Modularizing a template
I haven't seen any tutorials, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't any. The way that I've seen to do it is to take a section of the template and make that section itself a template then call that subtemplate from the main template.
For example, on the {{TrainsWikiProject}} banner, the box with the Trains Portal link is a subtemplate located at{{TrainsWikiProject/portalbox}}. I've been thinking of doing this for the various project and maintenance parameter outputs on that template for some time now, just haven't had a chance to work on it yet. Slambo (Speak) 19:06, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
thanks

North American railroad signals
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of North American railroad signals, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: User:Dp67/Sandboxes/North American railroad signals. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:47, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

adding new links
hi DP 67 i am new to wikipedia. as my first contribution i would like to add the video lecture page of IIT madras.i would like to know what's wrong with that link. actually that link is not with a profit motive.the users must login just for statistical purpose.please reply me.
Thank you for writing and asking, it does show that you care. The link added mentioned a requirement for login or register. Whether or not it is free does not matter, Wikipedia strongly discourages links to any such site. Not my rules, but they are rules the Wikipedia community has accepted. The very same link has been removed on several occasions not only by myself but from others as well. Then after the link is removed it is added again. I am not saying you are responsible for the previous attempts but someone from your school did . The IP of your school has also been warned several times for poor behaviour. With all that combined I would recommend that you not post the link. There are a large number of electronics articles which you are welcome to constructively contribute to if that is your expertise or any article you choose as long as it is not disruptive or against policy. Welcome to Wikipedia and feel free to contribute constructively.
Your note
I've replied. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:33, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Dp67, Hope you get a favorable reply from him. If not, what I can do is create a separate stub article on the Joy Boys radio show and CD, moving the image there rather than have it deleted. That would unquestionably meet all requirements of NFCC. p.s., what station were you on in Baltimore? JGHowes talk - 00:23, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hopefully he has something. As for the stations I was on my first claim to fame was Radio 60, WCAO "Your personality station" (Back when it was country) even though I was youngster at the time and it wasn't a paid gig I got to do some voicework as well as learn allot from the staff. I've worked at WMJS Prince Fredrick, WQMR Federalsburg, and knew nearly everyone at WHFS and WIYY so I spent allot of time at the guest mic or as a remote guest at both stations. I have spent most of my time behind the scenes mainly in engineering and production. I worked as a production technician for a cable TV station for several years and from there I went to Massachusetts and worked as an operations engineer at WEIM AM. For the last few years I've been working in the newspaper industry. Unfortunately, production and mechanical and not journalism otherwise I might know how to write a decent wiki article lol!

Speedy deletion of Image:1024x768 patapsco swinging bridge.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:1024x768 patapsco swinging bridge.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 23:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Blodes dam today trainweb 115bldam.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Blodes dam today trainweb 115bldam.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 02:28, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
