[edit] About Me

My name is Randy, I was born in Yorkshire, England but I've spent most of my life in Maryland, over the years I've also lived in quite a few states from coast to coast. I now reside in Battle Creek, Michigan. Although I've been involved in many professions over the years I only consider myself a master of one. I am a veteran radio broadcaster with more than 20 years of experience in Radio and Television. During my broadcasting career I've worn many hats. I've done the Mr DJ thing for a while, I've also been in production, Programming, Promotions, and Engineering. My career in broadcasting began in 1980 at the age of thirteen. By my sixteenth birthday I already knew practically everyone at every radio station in the Baltimore, Maryland Market. I also hold an Advanced Class Amateur Radio License. And believe it or not, it was my professional career in Radio broadcasting that came before my Amateur radio license in which I earned in 1992.

Those of you who work in radio I'm sure know that its a labour of love. The truth to the matter is that only a few get lucky and get a big break and a syndicated show, but the majority of us broadcasters live from check to check. We just do it because we love it. As the old WKRP theme song says many of us find ourselves moving from town to town, up and down the radio dial. Each time you find yourself jobless, you swear you'll start a new career. Yet I've found over the years of changing jobs from one profession to the next, one things for certain you can get out of radio, but you can't get radio out of you.

Call me crazy, but I prefer AM radio over anything else. There's something nostalgic about it that intrigues me. I also prefer AM on the Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) bands as well. I enjoy old Boat Anchors and Antique radios.

I grew up listening to radio and I enjoy talk radio, music, and OTR. Ironically even though I spent a number of years working in Television I can't stand it.
