Wikipedia:Don't violate consensus

This proposal has failed to attain consensus within the Wikipedia community. A failed proposal is one for which a consensus to accept is not present after a reasonable amount of time, and seems unlikely to form, regardless of continuing discussion.

This page in a nutshell: Don't violate consensus! If your edits to an article are reverted by five different editors, stop editing that article immediately, and seek consensus on the talk page. If consensus is against you, ask for a third opinion.

Wikipedia is based on consensus, and complete disrespect for this process is detrimental to the mental health of the community. The right approach is to ask other editors to weigh in on the situation.

If your edits to a page is reverted by five different editors, stop editing that article and discuss the issue on the talk page. Continued editing, in spite of being reverted 5 times by different editors, may result in a ban.

If you fail to convince the editors of the article, you can ask for a third opinion:

• Ask members of one of the WikiProjects into whose scope the article falls.
• Ask for a third opinion, or file a request for comment.
