Don Murphy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Don Murphy is an American film producer who produced the film Natural Born Killers.[1]

He received his graduate degree from USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, California. He went on to establish JD Productions with fellow USC graduate Jane Hamsher, subsequently optioning and producing the then-unknown Quentin Tarantino's script for Natural Born Killers with director Oliver Stone. The production was later documented in detail by Hamsher in her book Killer Instinct.[2]

With Hamsher he went on to produce several more films, including Apt Pupil, Permanent Midnight, and From Hell, which attracted generally positive reviews and a number of awards. He then formed his own company, Angry Films, which, beginning with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, has produced a number of films and has others in various stages of production as of 2008,[1] including Shoot 'em Up with Clive Owen and Torso, a David Fincher film, as well as While She Was Out with Kim Basinger. He is one of the originating producers of the 2007 Transformers live action film.[1]

Variety reported that AngryFilms is set to produce: an adaptation of We3, a Vertigo Comics miniseries, for New Line Cinema.[3]; an adaptation of Second Sight, a BBC miniseries, for Universal Studios.[4]; and Gemini Man, for Walt Disney Company.[5]
