Don't You Wanna Be Relevant? / Our Bovine Public

"Don't You Wanna Be Relevant?/Our Bovine Public" is the third single to be taken from Wakefield indie rock band The Cribs' third album, Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever. It is a Double A-side of the album's opening track, accompanied by a new, non-album track titled 'Don't You Wanna Be Relevant?'

The song "Our Bovine Public" was written as a dig at fellow Yorkshire band The Pigeon Detectives who originally played Cribs songs when the were unsigned. The line 'You'd never exist if you wasn't generic,' which is repeated throughout the song, is a reference to the fact that The Pigeon Detectives are part of an indie music scene which is often criticised for allowing bands with no indviduality or talent to be successful.

The video for "Don't You Wanna Be Relevant" features an animated version of the band along with some people dancing to their music. Eventually Ryan Jarman's heart is shown exploding and it's presumed it's what happens to everyone else in the video as their body starts to desintigrate, teeth fall out and turn green and insects infest their bodies. The video ends with Ross Jarman's head falling off and the other two falling apart.
