Dimitri Pätzold (born February 3, 1983 in Kamenogorsk, Kazakh SSR, USSR) is an ice hockey goaltender for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. After a rigorous training camp in 2007 Pätzold was chosen as backup to Evgeni Nabokov. On January 8th, 2008 he was placed on waivers to be sent to the Worcester Sharks in order to receive more playing time. [1] Though born in the Kazakh SSR, later Kazakhstan, Pätzold also hold German citizenship, and will compete with the German national ice hockey team at the 2008 IIHF World Championship.
