Dickinson State University

Dickinson State University (DSU) is a four-year public university in Dickinson, North Dakota, United States, and is a part of the North Dakota University System. It was founded in 1916 as Dickinson Normal School, and granted full university status in 1987.
Dickinson State offers four-year degrees in more than 25 fields of study through 10 academic departments. DSU also offers pre-professional and two-year coursework.
The student newsblog is called The Western Concept. DSU's sport teams are called the Blue Hawks, and play in the Dakota Athletic Conference. The campus colors are blue and gold.

In 2006 and 2007, DSU hosted educational symposia on 26th US President, Theodore Roosevelt. In 2006, the theme was Theodore Roosevelt, Adventurer. Nationally ranked Roosevelt scholars, historians and Tweed Roosevelt, TR's great grandson spoke on TR's experiences as a rancher, explorer and naturalist. In 2007, the theme was Theodore Roosevelt and America’s Place in the World Arena. Speakers included H. W. Brands, author of TR - The Last Romantic, John Milton Coop]], author of The Warrior and the Priest - Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt, Kristin Hoganson, author of Fighting for American Manhood: How Gender Politics Provoked the Spanish-American, Lori Lyn Bogle, expert on TR and the development of the modern [US Navy]], D. Jerome Tweton, TR and Marquis de Mores sholar, Tweed Roosevelt, moderator, Clay Jenkinson, and summary by Steven Doherty and Jon Brudvig. A world-premier performance of a lost play on the political and family issues faced by TR and originally written by historian and head of the Theodore Roosevelt Association, Herman Haggedorn was widely received.
