I apologise if I offended you with my changes. I agree with your contributions and I didn't revert your changes outright. I wrote the article on VLists and I should have mentioned in hash table that they can be used to implement functional hash tables. I agree with your sentiment that only particular implementations are persistent or non-persistent, I just felt it was verbose to make that explicit (at least in this article) when it was already implicitly asserted by the wording of the other paragraph, which talks about "implementations". I only really disagreed with your placement, since the text is pretty clearly out of place in the Implementations section, which currently discusses individual implementations. If you disagree, please feel free to revert me and explain your changes on the talk page. I appreciate your contributions and I apologise again if I have frustrated you. I'm sorry if I implied that every dot of code in the example was an enhancement over C++. I was also trying to show that some of the better things in C++ has been retained. DerekP 14:54, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for moving the macro reference to a more appropriate position in the article. Would it be possible for you to edit that same section again though to make it more generic and fixed to the topic by removing the C++-ness of the section. There is no reason to highlight C++ over any of the other template implementations here. Also I'm not sure if the word 'macro' needs to be in quotes as it is a real word used in its correct meaning in this context. DerekP 20:54, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I have moved it yet again and edited the section in a way I hope is more language-independent, though I found it somewhat difficult since the article and discusssion is very C++-oriented. I would appreciate any feedback you have. If you have the time I would also appreciate your input on my recent edits and contributions to the generic programming article. Best regards. The topic of the article is not C++ exclusive as many languages implement a template system that supports meta-programming. We should try to limit C++ in the article to example code only, while sticking to the generic aspects of the topic at hand, because they apply to all TMP implementations. I may update the macro discussion in order to de-emphazise it and refocus on the topic.
