Talk:Dema Kovalenko

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is within the scope of the following WikiProjects:

"he is not currently a citizen and would likely require many years before he is eligible"-Really? "Many" years? All it takes is a continuous period of living in the country (see http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/citizenship_application.html?NS_cid=7). Had Dema wanted to become a citizen, he could have done it fairly easily; most likely he just was not interested in playing for a country other than his own.

I thought he got citizenship last year?--Revolutionfan 18:31, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Move to Dima Kovalenko

I am going to put this article on WP:RM (or ask an admin to do it), because the correct title of this article should be Dima Kovalenko. The current name is an incorrect transliteration of Ukrainian/Russian. I am just posting on talk incase anyone objects. —dima /sb.tk/ 20:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Everyone I've corresponded with today (he was just acquired by the Red Bulls) refers to him as Dema (pronounced Dima). And the local papers covered him as Dema. I wonder if he has a preference.--tufkaa 20:49, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
I have did Google test Dema [1]produces >17K hits, Dima [2] produces only 92 hits, most having Dema as well. I am oppose to this move abakharev
Alright, leave the more common one, because Dema K. (20,800) has more google points instead of Dima K. (9,730), but the first is just incorrect. If he had a preference, let it be the way he wishes, but we do not know. IMHO, Wikipedia should reflect the correct transliterated name, not on how it sounds when pronouncing it. —dima /sb.tk/ 23:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
