[edit] Pro career

Hopkins is the current USBA lightwelterweight champion after dispatching Mario Jose Ramos by a lopsided unanimous decision. Is also the nephew of Benard Hopkins.

His fight on June 7, 2006 was a knockout win against Michael Warrick on ESPN 2. Hopkins won in dramatic fashion by connecting with a perfect right hand to the chin in the ninth round that knocked Warrick out cold and could be an early candidate for Knockout of the Year. He then went on to beat "The Contender" TV reality show star Steve Forbes by a UD in 12 however the match was surrounded in controversy many thought that Hopkins had lost the fight only for the judges to give the fight to Hopkins in extradoniary wide margins. His current record is 28(11ko)-0-1 according to boxrec.

In August 2007, Fight World magazine reported that Hopkins was going to hold for a testimonial bout for former trainer Thomas Wilson, claiming because "Tom loved the ring more than anyone".

Hopkins was schedueled to fight WBC Super Lightweight Champion Junior Witter, but pulled out claiming to having trouble with his uncle, many UK boxing journalists thought it was due to the fact he would not win the fight and look for a easier world title fight.
