Deltona High School is a high school located in Deltona, Florida. The school's athletic teams are known as the Wolves. The school's principal, is Volusia's Secondary Principal of the Year, Gary Marks. The six assistant principals are Carolyn Carbonell, David Hickey, Jennie Hughes, Leslie McLean, Carrie Valdes, and Ruiz Shivrattan. The school currently has an enrollment of over 3,000 students in grades 9 through 12. Deltona High School hosts an Army JROTC unit. There are currently 14 Advanced Placement classes offered.

Since the school's beginning in 1988, Deltona's football team has had only one winning season, going 6-4 in 1996. In the 2007 season, however, Deltona received a surge in school spirit and popularity when the football team won eight games, just bareley missing out on a playoff berth. The overall regular season record was 8-2, the two losses coming from Flagler Palm Coast High School, who ended up winning the 6A district title, and Spruce Creek High School, who were right behind Flagler. Deltona currently holds both the Bone Trophy from the Battle of the Bone, played against DeLand High School and the Boulevard Trophy from the Battle of the Boulevard, played against Pine Ridge High School.
DeLand High School is Deltona's original rival. The "Battle of The Bone" is a varsity football game played yearly by the two schools for a big trophy which has a giant bone on it.
Pine Ridge High School, is currently Deltona's top rival. "The Battle Of The Boulevard" is a varsity football game played yearly by the two schools pride, and the right to name Howland Blvd., the main road which both schools are on, as "Wolf Country" if Deltona wins, or "Panther Country" if Pine Ridge wins.
[edit] The Blue Brigade
Deltona High School's band, The Blue Brigade, was established in the 1987-88 school year. In this year, they first marched wearing only t-shirts and jeans, and, although the normal problems of a young program did exist, they received an "Excellent" rating at two marching evaluations, including the FBA State Marching Festival. During the 2007 marching season, The Blue Brigade received straight superiors at the annual FBA Marching Festival. In 2008, the school Jazz Band received straight excellents at the FBA Jazz Band Festival in their first year. On March 8, 2008 the Deltona High School Concert Band received straight excellents at MPA Districts, while the Symphonic Band received straight superiors. The top band made it to State in the 2007-2008 concert season, in which they received straight Excellents. Also during the 2007-2008 marching season, the marching band played selections from the Queen (band) album, A Night at the Opera (Queen album). The band is currently under the direction of Mr. Marcus "Mac" Kolodinsky or Mr. K for short. Mr. K, has been the director of bands at Deltona High School for two years so far.
[edit] Advancement Via Individual Determination
Deltona High School is home to the largest Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program in Volusia county with over 220 students. Deltona's AVID program is in its fifth year and supports students by preparing them for AP and Honor classes as well as demystifying the college/university process.
[edit] PrintEd & Graphic Design
PrintEd is a national accreditation program offering students career preparation in graphic arts & printing. Deltona High School is currently the only school in the state of Florida which offers this unique program; there are only 136 schools that offer this program in the nation.
[edit] Health Services Academy & HOSA
Deltona High school is home to the Health Services Academy which offers students preparation and training in health related occupations. The Health Academy is in joint participation with Daytona Beach college in their nursing program, which allows students to get a head start on their college education through dual enrollment. Entrance into the health academy is competitive. Students must keep above a 3.0 GPA and have little or no disciplinary referrals.
Students in the Health Academy are eligible to going the Health Academy Students of America (HOSA). Many Deltona High HOSA officers often become state or national officers later in their high school and college years. the Deltona High HOSA Chapter is active in the community, sponsoring walks for Alzheimer's and the annual Light the Night walk for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in addition to one or more blood drives throught the year to benefit the Florida Blood centers.

[edit] TV on the Run
Deltona High School has a television format wired to every classroom television set which features different filmed activities done throughout the year called "TV on the Run" (ex. Homecoming week, varsity football games, etc.). Interviews with students on various subjects (such as School food, teachers, classes, schoolwork, etc.) and performed skits are also featured. It is typically watched on Fridays in class after students have completed their schoolwork or when class soon ends.
