[edit] Date founded

Greetings. I have found a source that list the Decker Brothers company as having been founded in 1862. This article lists it as 1865.

Any thoughts on this? Tjbergsma (talk) 00:20, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I believe the article's creator got most of the information from that Atlas that is presently ref #2. I know nothing about this subject, I was just helping with the formatting and language. xenocidic (talk) 00:27, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
yeah, I guess that question was directed towards him (or her). the New York times article from 1878 said the company had been in business for 14 years already -- that makes it 1864!?? Thanks for cleaning up my references. Cheers, Tjbergsma (talk) 00:57, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
well this is pre-20th we're talking about.  ;> no problem. xenocidic (talk) 01:07, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I have heard that they were in existence for a few years before they manufactured any pianos. The first few years, I have come to understand, they were producing patents. I did get most of my information from Pierce's Piano Atlas. --Eliwhale (talk) 00:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
  • The Baldwin Piano Company article says that Dwight Baldwin started a Decker Brothers dealership in 1862. The statement there is unsourced.--Doug.(talk contribs) 02:54, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
