Dean Brown (born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 3, 1961)[1] is a Canadian hockey commentator. He is known for being the main play-by-play announcer for the National Hockey League's Ottawa Senators since the team's return to the NHL at first on Ottawa's talk-radio station 580 CFRA in the franchise's first years, then on Rogers Sportsnet and A-Channel Ottawa (formerly the New RO) since 1998 and on Ottawa's sports-radio station Team 1200 along with analyst Gord Wilson or occasionally former NHL defenceman Garry Galley when on the Senators play on Sportsnet.
He was previously paired with former goaltender Greg Millen until the 2004–2005 lockout during Senators games on both A-Channel and Sportsnet and was also occasionally paired with former Senator goalie Ron Tugnutt.
He also occasionally does play-by-play for Senators games on CBC's Hockey Night In Canada on Saturday nights as well as for other Canadian teams in replacement of regular announcers such as Jim Hughson and Don Wittman.
He is known for his distinct way of yelling, "Scores!", as well as his commonly used phrases such as "Scramble!", "Oh what a save by (goaltender)!" and "Oh my heavens!"
Prior of becoming the voice of the Senators, Brown was a news anchor at CKSL in London and also made play-by-play for games of the defunct Canadian Football League's Ottawa Roughriders franchise and also called other CFL games on TSN and CBC.
