I see that you've changed demographic statistics for Seattle, still attributing them to the U.S. Census of 2000. I believe the previous numbers correctly reflected that census. Do you have a different source (in which case please cite it), or is there an updated revision of the census, or what? -- Jmabel | Talk 21:29, Feb 17, 2005 (UTC)

David, you recently uploaded Image:Global warming.gif and Image:Global warming2.gif, marked them as GFDL and stated "The original version of this figure was prepared by Illinois State Museum (http://www.museum.state.il.us/exhibits/ice_ages/) from publicly available data. The figure may be used under the GFDL."

I suspect that both of these images are copyright problems. While the fact that the data is public is good, the copyright in such cases vests with the person or organization that prepared a particular style of presentation for such data. In this case, that would appear to be the not-for-profit Illinois State Museum Society. Unless you have their explicit permission, you would not have the authority to release these images under the GFDL.

Unless you can give me a good reason why the GFDL should apply, I intend to list both these images on Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Dragons flight 18:40, Mar 20, 2005 (UTC)

Hi there:

CIS is hardly a solid source for such a controversial point. All of the well-established, well-respected think tanks on both sides of the political spectrum (Cato, Heritage, Hudson, Hoover, Manhattan, Brookings, Urban, AEI, etc.) are not afraid to list their trustees and their experts. They also prominently display their experts' education and backgrounds.

Without any listing of its personnel or any description of their qualifications, CIS could easily be three ordinary guys in a one-room office making up numbers off the top of their heads. When you've actually got hands-on experience with political battles, you'll realize there are way too many wannabe think tanks all over the U.S. that have fancy Web sites and not much else.

While you're still an undergraduate, you might want to consider taking courses in epistemology and critical thinking.
