Dave Villwock started racing boats at age 16, and Beacme crew chief for Chip Hanauer in 1989 for the Miss Circus-Circus team. In 1990 Haunauer and the Villwock lead Circus team won the APBA Unlimited Championship. Dave made his driving debut in unlimiteds in 1992 at San Diego, California. He scored an upset victory in his first race driving for Ron Jones Jr. racing. Dave later joined Fred Lealand's unlimited team in 1994. The Leland Pico team gave Villwock his first Gold Cup win at Detroit MI as well as a National championship. Known as "Super Dave" while driving for the Leland Pico team. After the end of 1996, Dave was pulled to the dark side by Miss Budweiser racing team owner Bernie Little. Dave became team manager and driver for the Miss Budweiser team. Dave racked up numerous wins and high points championships during the final chapter of the Miss Budweiser team. Dave's sometimes brash attitude and ruthless ways earned him the nick name "Darth" among hydroplane fans.
