Dave & Buster's, also called D and B's (D&B's), is a large-format, high-volume American restaurant and entertainment business. Each D&B has a limited-service restaurant that offers a menu of food and beverage items, a video arcade called the "Million Dollar Midway" with interactive simulators, virtual reality systems, traditional carnival-style games of skill, and pocket billiards. Some locations inherited from Jillian's (see below) offer the Grand Sports Cafe, which features large-screen television monitors, some in high definition, and bowling alleys. As of January 1, 2008, the company had 48 stores across the United States. Additionally, the company licenses the D&B concept internationally through area licensing agreements and as of January 1, 2008, there were two Dave & Buster's in operation outside the United States, in Toronto and Mexico City. Additionally, all except for a few former Jillian's outlets have been rebranded under the D&B name after being acquired in 2004 when Jillian's had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.[1] The company announced on December 8, 2005, that it would be acquired by private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management LLC. Nevertheless, some stock is still publicly available.[2].

[edit] Food and Drinks
All items on the D&B menu are offered from early lunch until late night and feature a wide variety of moderately priced food. The selections include gourmet pastas, burgers, steaks, seafood, chicken and a selection of desserts. The menu is updated to reflect current trends and guest favorites. Sunday brunch is served in some locations and an extensive variety of buffets are available for special events and private parties.[3].
All D&Bs offer full bar service.
[edit] Games
The entertainment attractions offer both traditional games and high-tech entertainment. Each Dave & Buster's offers a number of traditional entertainment options, including pocket billiards, shuffleboard tables, a “Show Room” or other special event rooms, which are designed for hosting private social parties and business gatherings as well as company-sponsored events. Traditional entertainment games and rooms are rented by the half hour. The largest area in each Dave & Buster's is the Million Dollar Midway, which is designed to provide high-energy, escapism entertainment with numerous electronic, skill and sports-oriented games. The Dave & Buster's Power Card activates all the midway games (with the exception of coin action games) and can be recharged for additional play. The Power Card enables customers to activate games more easily and encourages extended play of games to increase customer spending. By replacing most coin activations, the Power Card has reduced the technical difficulties and maintenance issues associated with coin activated equipment. Furthermore, the Power Card feature has increased the company's flexibility in pricing and promoting of games. Games include:
- Simulator games such as formula race cars, off-road vehicles, fighter jets and motorcycles
- Galaxian Theater, a multi-participant, enclosed simulation theater where up to six players take part in mock battles with alien invaders
- Virtuality, an interactive, electronic game designed to simulate an actual battlefield environment
- Virtual World, a fantasy environment attraction
- Iwerks Turbo Ride Theater, a 16- to 18-seat motion simulation theater; large-screen interactive electronic games
- "The 19th Hole", a golf simulator
The company also contracts for exclusive games designed to build customer loyalty and repeat visits:
- Pump It Up, a 5-panel dance game from andamiro, incorporated in a large majority of D&B stores
- Classic midway entertainment includes sports-oriented games of skill
- Carnival-style games which are intended to replicate the atmosphere found in a county fair
- D&B Downs, which is one of several multiple-player race games offered in each store.
The Winner's Circle is the redemption center for coupons won from selected games of skill. A wide variety of prizes are available, many with the Dave & Buster's logo. The prizes include stuffed animals, clothing, small electronic items, large electronic items, and novelties.
[edit] Events
Dave & Buster's is the sponsor of the current concert tour of the rock band Bowling for Soup. D&B also sponsors the charity, Dave Bevans' Children, in the fund raising event: D&B for DB's. Dave & Buster's also carries several advertisements throughout the cable TV networks which encourage more people to come and visit the venue, play some games, eat some food, drink some drinks, watch some concerts and have some fun.
