The Czech Lion awards (Czech: Český lev) are annual awards that recognize accomplishments in filmmaking and television. It is the highest award of achievement in film awarded in the Czech Republic. The jury is comprised of members of the Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA). Historically, the awards recognized both films and television achievement, but the CFTA's 2004 launch of the television-only Elsa awards has cast some doubt over which is the higher award for television.[1]
Eligible films must have been released in the year prior to the awards ceremony, and must have been at least co-produced by a Czech film studio.
