Cyril Lakin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cyril Harry Alfred Lakin c.(1915-1993) was a Welsh politician and farmer who was the Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP) for the Llandaff and Barry (UK Parliament constituency) in south Wales. As a politician in the early 1940s he was elected in 1942 with a 5,655 majority.
He spent most of his life as a farmer at Highlight Farm in Barry with his wife Mary, a farm which the Lakin family have owned for centuries in the Vale of Glamorgan. In the early 1970s he sold part of the land in the immediate vicinity of the Lakin farmhouse to Wimpey Homes, an area covering about two square kilometres to make way for the housing estate Highlight Park.
