Cristian Osvaldo Álvarez (born January 9, 1978 in Capital Federal, Argentina) is an Argentine football defender.

Álvarez began his career at Club Atlético Lanús in the Primera División Argentina in 1998. He also had a short spell with Arsenal de Sarandí before moving to play in Spain with Racing de Santander.

After two loan spells, with also Spanish sides Córdoba CF and CD Tenerife, he signed permanently with Córdoba in the summer of 2007.
