Best Defense is a second season episode of the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
[edit] Plot summary
In this episode, Detectives Goren and Eames investigate the case of an Assistant District Attorney who takes the law into his own hands by gunning down a burglar, or at least someone who supposedly was a hired killer following a series of death threats.
The detectives first suspect his wife, a prominent defense attorney, through a convict whose case was being prosecuted by the ADA as well the rumors of her romantic affairs.
As detectives discover, things are not what they seem with this prosecutor and his wife, and Goren has to keep ADA Carver in the dark about some details to prove his theory.
