[edit] Thanks for Bill O'Reilly edit
Hello there. I just wanted to say thanks for your recent edit to the article on Bill O'Reilly. I've been trying my best to keep that article focused on his whole history and life and not just "he fights with FOO, he isn't liked by BAR" and the like. That's important information to include because major events in his journalistic career should be highlighted, so thanks for catching that previous oversight. Also, since it looks like you're fairly new (at least under this username), welcome to Wikipedia! Beginning 05:01, Aug 22, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] La La
In case you don't visit the VFD page again, the Ashlee Simpson debate was not about deleting her article, but an article on one of her songs. Mike H 17:46, Dec 2, 2004 (UTC)

There is a remarkable pattern of similarity on VFD between your votes and those of Old Right and Judson. Can you help me understand why that might be? Thank you. Michael Ward 07:43, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

What's a decryption matrix? From the VfD log, you seem to have run into the concept before. Google's not very helpful here.— Matt Crypto 16:30, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Lindsay Lohan
Image:Lohanposing.JPG Can you explain where this photo was downloaded from, and what its copyright status is? RickK 09:21, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
- Also, two other files, Image:Lind.jpg and Image:Lindsay.jpg, are duplicates of the same image and were posted by one User:Daniel Spencer and are also unsourced. (See also Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion#June 8)
- Crevaner, do you know anything about this?
- — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 09:24, Jun. 8, 2005
- No! This pictures were posted on June 6, three days after I posted the "Lindsayposing" picture. Obviously this Daniel Spencer didn't the pic was already on wikipedia. -- Crevaner 14:48, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Edits at Arnold Schwarzenegger
(because it's such a fun name to spell). I noticed that in this edit, you changed "2005-12-12" to "December 12 of 2005" while making other edits. While still accurate, the format using the word "of" is not recognized as wiki-date syntax like the following are:
- December 12, 2005 — 12 December, 2005 — 2005-12-12
All three of these formats render the same way.
- December 12, 2005 — 12 December 2005 — 2005-12-12
Check the coding in the text of my post, and try changing your Special:Preferences settings for a moment and view it again. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 15:14, Dec. 14, 2005

[edit] Jack Ryan (fictional character)
I wouldn't have gone so far as to call the changes by 141.161.92.91 vandalism... I'm puzzled why you did, and if so, why you didn't use the warning templates mentioned at WP:VAND to warn him? Just seems a little harsh to this puzzled user, that's all. — CJewell (talk to me) 06:33, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Gun-control-racist.gif
|
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Gun-control-racist.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 17:18, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Terran empire icon.jpg
Hello, Crevaner. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Terran empire icon.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Crevaner. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 09:42, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DC Meetup notice
Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Virginia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 22:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Dax_TNG_Trill.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dax_TNG_Trill.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 17:06, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Addng names to categories.
Just to help you make things easier when sorting categories, DEFAULTSORT is used at the beginning to automatically set the first and last names in categories. Unless you want the category to be sorted differently for a certain category, you don't need to type the name in every category. --wL<speak·check> 17:27, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Ledger-Joker.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ledger-Joker.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot 05:07, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Vinick campaign.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vinick campaign.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
Hi. I reverted several of your additions to this category. Remember that categories have to be verifiable too. If you want to restore the category with proper evidence I will not object, even though it is a poorly-named category. --John (talk) 14:27, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
