Cottanello is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Rieti in the Italian region Latium, located about 60 km north of Rome and about 15 km west of Rieti. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 558 and an area of 36.4 km².[1]
The municipality of Cottanello contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Castiglione, Colle della Fonte, and Le Piane.
Cottanello borders the following municipalities: Configni, Contigliano, Greccio, Montasola, Stroncone, Vacone.
