While I don't have a source to site, I'd like to make the statement that both this article and the article on "Roman Catholicism" should note that the Church's view of its name is not "Roman Catholic", but "Catholic", as in "The Catechism of the Catholic Church". "Roman Catholicism" is a colloqial term for what is mostly the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. The entire religion is named by itself Catholicism. The confusion arrises because the Roman Rite, or Latin Rite, of the Church is by far the biggest, though there are other Eastern Rites, like various Byzantine, the Ruthenian, the Ethiopian, which though small constitute what the Church considers to be a very important part of its whole.

Also, if I could, I would like to encourage all Orthodox to research the Great Schism and previous Christian history from an unbiased standpoint so as to arrive at the conclusion that it is indeed Orthodox who need to convert and become Catholic. As in the many occurences in the past, the Church is willing to introduce or expand Eastern Rites so as to make room for those who wish to re-unite to Her.

God bless.

I beg your pardon. It is the ROMAN Catholics who must repent and be reunified with the Orthodox Churche, not the reverse, and all good and true history and science demonstrates this. The Roman Catholic Church is called Roman because other churches, including the Orthodox and some Protestant denominations consider themselves to be Catholic Churches as well. Thus, non-Roman Catholics refer to Roman Catholicism, while the latter, in a vain attempt to usurp and abrogate the entire concept of Catholicism entirely to themselves are pleased to puff themselves up and demand that appellation minus the qualification Roman, but to no avail, as all apart from their self-regarding number continue to refer to them as Roman Catholics, as so it will, and should remain.
