[edit] CBS a town while Corner Brook is a city?

I find it mildly amusing that Conception Bay South is considered a 'town' when it has a higher population that Corner Brook. Does anyone know why?

Yes. In order to become a city, the town council, possibly via referendum must vote to incorporate as a city. It's not an automatic distinction based on population, although areas of large and dense population usually are incorporated into a city. CBS is a very large area with a relatively low population density than say, Mount Pearl. --WPaulB (talk) 20:04, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Redirects

Why do Chamberlains and Foxtrap redirect here? It is not explained in the text. --Qyd (talk) 01:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

This:

The town was formed in 1973 through the amalgamation of nine communities: Topsail, Chamberlains, Manuels, Long Pond, Foxtrap, Kelligrews, Upper Gullies, Lawrence Pond and Seal Cove. The name "Manuels" is retained in a river in the east of Conception Bay South, known as Manuels River.
