[edit] History
The School, situated in the center of Comilla, was established in 1837 by an English named H. G. Legister. This school started it's journey with only few students. Then it was governmentalized as a high school by the Government of British India for teaching English literature and Science and named as Comilla Zilla School. In the middle of 1850 the school building expanded and improved it's teaching structure. This honoured institution has delivered a number of famous alumni in its history of more than 170 years. This school is one of the most respected and recognized institutions of Bangladesh.
[edit] Current Status
This is a boy's school. Initially the school conducted only one shift, it means that it had an uniform class time for all students. With the need of time, from 1991 two shifts were introduced: morning and day. Presently all the classes from 5 to 10 are running. There are six sections in each of the classes-‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’ and ‘F’ for class five to eight where ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ are in day shift while rest of the sections are in morning shift. There are 60 students in each of the sections according to the present system. For class 9 and ten students are distributed into 4 sections following the same structure with a larger number of students in a class. Currently almost 1400 students are continuing their studies in this school with 53 teachers.
There is a rule of wearing uniforms for the school boys. The uniform is white shirt with white full pant and white shoe for all students. The school monogram should be printed on shirt’s pocket.
Usually students are admitted in class 5 and 6. Admission can be considered in other classes if vacancy is created or if someone is transferred from some other government school. Admission test is taken usually in the first week of January.
