Talk:Cobra Starship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hey, so their page was basically vandalized, but I have no idea how to just undo all the changes. Anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.24.115 (talk) 11:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Heh, still learning how to set stuff up here. I tried using the Jefferson Airplane page as a starting-point, just on a whim - totally fluked out that they were known as Jefferson Starship, which I thought was an interesting connection. Cobra Airplane? I wonder if the band was thrown together just for the movie :) Good song, though. I like it.
Update: MTV article provides info on how the name came to be. (article)
William, Travis and Maja aren't actually members of Cobra Starship, they just provided vocals and appeared in the clip for Snakes on a Plane (Bring It).
Yeah, Gabe is the only actual member--Bopher1 01:01, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Actual Members
can we get some sources cited here for the actual members, at this point I am taking it that it is just Gabe. Are there others? Xsxex 01:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's basically just Gabe's solo prjoect. Le Raine 03:54, September 8 2006
- There are 5 members of the band, which is now a legitimate project. Gabe, Ryland, Alex, Vicky, and Nate.
- Yes, there are five; it's not just Gabe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.73.104.49 (talk) 22:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Future Plans
I get the feeling that the entire Future Plans section is creative fiction. Any citations for Jordan Vidor, Muto! Muto! Muto! or the "Fag Four"? British Ben 03:38, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Name origination
I removed the following text: "substituing "Cobra" for Jefferson, the name would be "Cobra Airplane"--a reference to the band's first single, "Snakes on a Plane (Bring it)", which was featured in the film Snakes on a Plane"
It is comfusing and doesn't really have much to do with anything, since the band name was around before the SOAP phenomenon. NeilDespres 06:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
It must be a reference to Elite, surely? 82.41.38.204 22:39, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] BOOTS!!
can we start a discussion about that guys boots in the music video for snakes on a plane. holy crap they are hot and i want some...
I don't really think that Cobra Starship is a side project of Midtown anymore. I don't really know enough yet so I can't say for sure, but it seems like it's much bigger and is Gabe's main band now.
This is not a forum for discussion of..... anything.--68.255.228.81 19:32, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
calm down mr hissypants
I don't understand how "Bring It (Snakes on a plane)" could have possibly been written without having a connection to the movie. there is NO way that could have been a coincedence. It definitely needs some sort of citation or should be excised from the article.
Soooo, rumor has it that Elisa was dropped from the band, any substantial proof and should it be added? community.livejournal.com/cobra_starship
UPDATE: SHE IS OUT OF THE BAND AND VICKY T IS IN THE BAND! I REPEAT, ELISA IS GONE, VICKY T IS HERE! ALSO THEY ARE DOING THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE NEW TMNT MOVIE!
-- No coincedence. Actually, there is an origional version of "Bring It" by Cobra Starship. The whole Snakes on a Plane must have been later interpretted into it for the movie. The guy in the boots carrying the guitar case was William Beckett, the lead vocalist for The Academy Is... notice Pete Wentz was also in it? bands from the same label have a way of becoming friends. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Taisantilove (talk • contribs) 21:36, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Band in a Bubble
Cobra Starship posted a Myspace bulletin that seriously hints that they'll be the next band to record for Dr. Pepper's Band In A Bubble. "The producers quickly realized that our undeniable zest and charm in front of the camera could make them billions of dollars. Not to mention the fact that the sound engineer was having trouble hearing anything over our ridiculously good looks. So cross your fingers Cobros and Cobrettes! We might hit it big!" [edit] Fan clubs
I don't think the existence of groups of four fans obsessed with a band is important enough to be encyclopedic. It was actually embarrassing to read. Leopold Stotch 16:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
|== Nate? == Anyone else noticed that there's no page for Nate Novarro? If you click on his name, it just brings you back to the main page. Anyone know how to fix that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.74.228.254 (talk) 17:36, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
yes i have noticed that as well and have no idea how to fix it. its probably because there is not enough information for him anywhere. like, biographies and stuff. i dont know im just guessing. GerardXXXXway (talk) 23:45, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Genre
Yes, I do believe that Cobra Starship is alternative rock but on their recent album they have used many beats relating to breakbeat. As well as their genre being Breakbeat / Grindcore / Afrobeat on their MySpace page, and they run their MySpace page, obviously, they know what their own genre is. --Thebluesharpdude (talk) 05:19, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] singles??
alright, so how come it lists "enjoy the silence" by depeche mode under singles for cobra starship? that makes no sense to me....
