[edit] Symbolism

Isn't that eagle a bit Slavic or Germanic? Most Islamic nations have a crescent moon in their heraldry... what's the story on this? Sweetfreek 02:41, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Not really -- the "hawk of Qureish" and "eagle of Saladin" have been standard pan-Arabic symbols from the 1950's on... AnonMoos 11:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
By the way, currently Tunisia and Algeria are about the only Arab countries with crescents on their flags... AnonMoos 11:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
