Club Sport Áncash is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Huaraz.
[edit] History
The club was founded on 22 April 1967. Sport Ancash has participated in the Copa Perú, which is similar to the Segunda División Peruana, until in 2004 they reached the final and defeated Deportivo Municipal and were promoted to the Primera División Peruana. They have remained there and in the 2007 season, they qualified for the Copa Sudamericana 2008. In 2007, the Peruvian Football Federation discovered that some players signed amateur contracts and played professionally. The corresponding punishment was relegation, but a controversial decision made by the FPF president Manuel Burga allowed them to stay in the first division.
