Clarksburg High School is a public high school located at 22500 Wims Road in Clarksburg, an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States.

[edit] About Clarksburg High School
Originally opened in 1995 as Rocky Hill Middle School (which moved to its present location in 2004 at 22401 Brick Haven Way) at 120,625 sq ft (11,206.4 m²)., the school reopened as Clarksburg High School in 2006 at 309,216 sq ft (28,727.1 m²)., with an addition of 200,413 sq ft (18,619.0 m²)., a renovation of 108,803 sq ft (10,108.1 m²). of the original 1995 building, and a demolition of 11,822 sq ft (1,098.3 m²). of the original 1995 building. The basketball gym is the second biggest in the county after Montgomery Blair High School. Clarksburg High School is considered to be one of the best high schools in the tri-county area.
Clarksburg High School draws students from Rocky Hill Middle School, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, and Neelsville Middle School. Most students previously attended Rocky Hill Middle School which is located the shortest distance away from Clarksburg High School.
The school mascot is the Coyote. It was chosen by the students through a poll, over the Scorpians and the Colts. The school's colors are North Carolina blue, navy and white. In its first year, it only had freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Many of the students formerly went to either Damascus, Watkins Mill, or Seneca Valley High Schools. At the time that Clarksburg High School opened, Northwood High School also reopened. Northwood High School did not have seniors during the 2006-2007 school year as well.

The 2006-2007 outdoor track and field team had a very successful season with the boys ending with a 4 wins and 1 loss for the regular season and the girls team ending their regular season with 3 wins and 2 losses. It also sent many athletes to the Maryland State Championships despite the lack of a senior class. Its head coach, Coach Matthias, was the former head coach at Poolesville High School.
The 2007-2008 outdoor track and field team had a another very successful season with the boys ending with a 6 wins and 0 losses for the regular season and the girls team ending their regular season with 6 wins and 0 losses.
[edit] Cross Country
The 2007-2008 cross country season was very successful for the both the boys and the girls, becoming Division III Champions with a record of 5-0. This may be the first time that a school has had its boys and girls cross country teams become Division Champions by its second year opened. Its head coach, Coach Caretti, was the former coach of the Gaithersburg High School cross country team.

One of the new programs that has been established is the APPS Program, which stands for Advanced Placement Power Scholars Program. Members are required to take a certain amount of Advanced Placement classes, even 9th grade members. This program was modeled after Walter Johnson High School's APEX Program. 9th graders must take AP NSL Government.

The Howl, Clarksburg High School's student-run newspaper, is produced by a small but growing group of student writers and editors. The paper is supervised by English and journalism teacher Sara Goodman and comes out with an average of 6 issues per year. Justin Kenel is the editor in chief of The Howl and is very enthusiastic about his responsibilities.
