Thanks for the message. I´m about. And I´ve got you a quick question:
Could you tell me what´s the key for the ' symbol? I keep on using the ´ symbol for words like don´t, can´t, etc. I just figured it out, after so much time... Cheers, ♠TomasBat 21:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for help
Ck lostsword, I noticed your comments on the talk page of a mutual friend, BillCJ. I wonder if you can look into a problem with the Amelia Earhart page. A conspiracy theorist has come back after being reverted by at least two editors and one admin, but he has again reverted every change made by Gwen Gale who has been a major contributor to the article for over a year. She did a very careful analysis of his recent edits and rewrote the article, establishing a referenced and supported section on disappearance theories related to Amelia Earhart. I do not want to get into a revert war but our "Saipan theory is best" editor has been cautioned on both the article discussion page and his own talk page, that his assertions are untenable and do not have consensus support. He will not listen to me and only an admin can return the article to its original state or to the version that Gwen Gale proposed. Help... Bzuk 23:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC).
- Thank you for your intervention. I agree that an editwar is not desirable and had suggested that consensus for major changes to an article should be the chosen method whenever contentious issues arise. I had initially hoped to have that consensus arrived at via the discussion page of the Amelia Earhart article but it just didn't work out that way. My suggestion was to try out an edit on the discussion page before a rewriting occurred. I do not have an opinion on the disappearance theories myself although I do subscribe to "Occum's Razor" with an acceptance that the simplest theory most often leads to a solution, which predicates against many of the "conspiracy" theories. Last year, I had tired of the constant disappearance theory submissions and had proposed that a sub-article be established, which was roundly defeated. Only Gwen Gale, another primary contributor to the article, and myself voted for that change but c'est la vie, we moved on.
- Not that Gwen and I always see eye-to-eye on everything, but at least we have come to an arrangement wherein we can respect each other's submissions and when we ask for verification or supporting evidence, usually a lively debate breaks out but not overt reversions or promotion of a viewpoint just to make a point, as was happening in this latest set of edits. Another main contributor is Dr. Alex V. Mandel, a true Earhart scholar who has also provided invaluable advice and can be counted on for assistance in sorting out some of the details surrounding this iconic figure. The Earhart article and other associated articles have also been the target of many vandals over the last year with at least a half-dozen requests for protection or semi-protection. Most of the vandalism was blatant and obvious, but this was the first time where an editor arrived who wanted to "champion a cause." One of the exasperating aspects of the recent rewrite was in having some of the statements I had written with corroborating citations subtly rewritten to say something different but with my cited reference source being quoted.
- That was not the main concern in the present "hubbub" – it was the disregarding of the many editors who had contributed to the "crafting" of the article and the dismissal of numerous reputable historians as examples of "conventional" research, yet personal observations of witness statements on YouTube videos were promoted in their stead. Now, did I get everything "off my chest?" Just enunciating my feelings is recuperative, Sorry for the pedantic rant, but let me thank you again for providing a "Solomon's solution" to the impasse in the Amelia Earhart article, which was about to be proposed as a Good Article candidate and needs to have an unambiguous and tightly-structured format to qualify. Bzuk 03:14, 24 August 2007 (UTC).
My thoughts: This kind of thing is why I no longer watch or edit high profile articles on this public wiki. There is a difference between a balanced description of an unfounded but popular myth and the advocacy of a myth for which there is no verifiable support. I had removed the Earhart article from my watchlist some time ago but Bzuk asked me to come back and have a look at the Saipain edits (and related advocacy which had been scattered into the article). I spent an hour cleaning it up (and was glad to do it), accepted the kind thanks given to me and lo, a day later the article was protected. I want nothing to do with edit wars, disputes or page protections and most definitely will stay away from any moderately determined "PoV warrior" (or whatever one wants to call a user who is editing in advocacy of a PoV which is not supported by verifiable sources). Hence, I'm again taking the Earhart article off my watchlist but wish everyone who is trying to fix this by following WP policy all my best, along with my heartfelt empathy! Cheers :) Gwen Gale 13:41, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ck, looks like everyone has had plenty of time to comment, and since you remained wisely independent, would you mind rendering a verdict? I'm a little concerned because Matt has made comments about intending to continue ignoring other editors and editing in his previous mode, so he'll bear some watching. A healthy, although somewhat digressive conversation has ensued, which Matt has only marginally taken part in. You may also want to check his comments on my talk page. Thanks for the help in all this! AKRadeckiSpeaketh 15:39, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- Ck lostsword, Thank you for your very principled and objective appraisal of the Amelia Earhart dispute. Yours and other administrator's efforts have not only helped resolve a controversial issue but also set the stage for continued improvements to the article. Bzuk 23:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC).
