The City of Latrobe (formerly Shire of La Trobe) is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the eastern part of the state. It includes the cities of Moe, Morwell and Traralgon; and the towns of Boolarra, Churchill, Yallourn North. It has an area of 1,395 square kilometres. In 2006 it had a population of 69,329.
The Head Offices for the City of Latrobe are located in Morwell, which is located geographically in the middle of Latrobe City.
The city serves as a commercial centre for the Gippsland region.
The city was created as Shire of Latrobe in 1994 following amalgamation of the City of Moe, City of Morwell, City of Traralgon and parts of the Shire of Narracan and Shire of Rosedale, and was accorded the status of a City by the Victorian Government in 2000. It is now home to some of Australia's biggest coal power stations including:
