[edit] Recreation and shopping
City One encapsulates two shopping arcades, two car parks, a wet market, a 50m swimming pool, one park, three basketball courts and six tennis courts. The park is located on the top floor of City One Plaza. City One Plaza has an open space area in the centre. Local events including public performances are often held there. In the original plans, City One had three shopping centres. However, plans changed and reduced shopping centres to two. The original land planned for the third shopping centre is replaced by a wet market on the ground floor and three blocks built on top of the market. It also has a post office. There are also a series of Chinese convenience stores which sell a variety of goods, from shampoo to oatmeal. One very popular and busy convenience store is Gong Tau Lo (lit. "bald man"), located on the northern shopping mall.
Local restaurants including Kim-Wo-Court and Dun Lai Lo (lit. "boiling milk dude") offer cheap casual local cuisine. Major fast food chains: McDonald's, Cafe de Coral, Fairwood and KFC have their outlets here and Hardees was here. Four Cantonese restaurants, such as Fok Choi Restaurant, are good places for Chinese style cuisine and family dinners. Another great eatery is Saigoon Star, a prize-winning restaurant serving great value SE-Asian cuisine. The bakeries of Circle K, Kee-Hueng, Maxim's, A-1 and Maria's attracts teenagers and adults alike every morning for their hot and fresh breakfast.
Shopping is another big plus for people considering a move to City One Shatin. Two Park 'n Shop Supermarkets offer most of daily necessities. Mannings and Watson's, together with some local pharmacies, provide the residents great choices of healthcare and personal care products. In addition, two Circle K convenience stores plus two Seven-Eleven convenience stores offer 24-hour services. From little trendy boutiques selling lady's clothing to wet market stalls parading the fleshy carcasses of innocent farm creatures, one can buy anything in City One.
