The Christopher S. Bond Bridge in Kansas City, Missouri (sometimes referred to as the New Paseo Bridge) is a cable-stayed bridge across the Missouri River that is scheduled to open in 2011 as a replacement to the Paseo Bridge.

On November 14, 2007, MoDOT announced plans for a complete replacement of the Paseo Bridge. The new Christopher S. Bond Missouri River Bridge will be a dual-span cable-stayed bridge, anchored by a 260-foot tall delta-shaped pylon. The pylon will rise approximately 300 feet above the Missouri River. [2]

The new bridge will be built just downstream of the existing roadway, which will allow the existing bridge to remain open to traffic during construction beginning in April 2008. The roadway capacity will be increased from forty to sixty feet through lanes, plus a northbound auxiliary lane and future southbound bicycle/pedestrian crossing. The contract completion date of the winning design-build proposal is June 1, 2011. [3]

The bridge is part of a $245 million project that will upgrade an approximately 2 mile section of the I-29/I-35 corridor to six lanes. The bridge was designed by Bradley Touchstone of the DodStone Group of Tallahassee, Florida. The firm also designed the John James Audubon Bridge (Mississippi River) which will the be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America when it is completed.[4]
