[edit] Children of Bali
Wikipedia is not a listing of charities, or a place to solicit support or donations. It is an encyclopedia, and as such, it is a tertiary source for general knowledge of the world. Specific organizations like yours must demonstrate notability to be considered for inclusion according to a specific set of criteria. Copyright infringement notwithstanding, your organization's article possessed no assertions of notability and would have been subjected to other criteria for speedy deletion.
It is generally considered bad practice to edit on behalf of your company or organization. Please read the organization and business-related fequently asked questions and Wikipedia's policy on conflict of interest editing. Your original user name was more acceptable to our username policy than this current one; in fact, this name violates it and might be blocked. I would highly recommend that you go back to your original account. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 14:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Noted
OK, sorry about that. I will delete this account on Wiki and use my ilovevancouver account instead. I won't submit any more content regarding Children Of Bali. I'll read about according to a specific set of criteria to see if our charity fits.
[edit] Please Delete Me
I can't seem to find a delete account option. Could you please delete this account ChildrenOfBali on my behalf?
Thanks, Martin
- An indefinite block on the name should work just as well. It's not a reflection on you; and in this case is a purely administrative function. You can ignore further messages here. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 14:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.
Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, confusing, or misleading.
If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username which is quick and easy. To do so, please follow these directions:
-
- Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
- At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
