As much as i love Chimaira, phraises like "undeniably killer content" and "The sound of that life is nothing less than a sledgehammer to the face." sound like fanboy comments and are in no way neutral.

Hey umm I don't really know how to edit wikipedia and couldn't be bothered learning so I'm suggesting someone else do it. Chimaira falls under the genre "New Wave of American Metal" (not post thrash). Someone should link it to there. I am basing this on the 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey' and how it characterised bands.

I totally disagree with basing it on "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" because they failed at proper categorization of several bands. However, I would consider Chimaira Groove Metal (post-thrash) mostly, and they could also be considered Metalcore and NWOAM (BECAUSE MOST OF THE BANDS THAT ARE NWOAM ARE ONE OF THESE: GROOVE METAL/POST-THRASH/METALCORE) All three have their own distinctive sound but they're all closely related to each other so thats why they kind of get lumped together. Ok, I can understand a band falling under one, or two. Maybe even 3 as chimaira has been around for quite awhile. First off, I don't understand why they're classified as nu metal, that's pure garbage imo to label them alongside bands like Linkin Park, Korn and the likes. They didn't rap, they didn't do anything except an aggresive style. While I agree they are Metalcore Groove Metal and could fall under the New Wave of American Metal category as well, they are not Thrash Metal, and they are definitely not nu metal.Shatterzer0 06:41, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

"Andrew Ermlick" should be added to the "Ex Members" section. He was the original bass player.

I've added a hidden comment (I tried linking hidden comment but I'm surprised wiki has nothing on it... nothing in Help: or Wikipedia: to explain what they are) to further help the article from people trying to change their genre. Metal is an abbreviation of heavy metal. Can you give a reason why should be such confusing abbreviation used in the first sentence of this article? Do you wonder how confusing? For a metalhead not but for 99,9% of the poulation of the earth sure. Yes, I agree that there should not be groove metal or metalcore, but there should be "heavy metal".--  LYKANTROP  20:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I'm lame, I'm very new to Wikipedia and didn't even see this talk page. I added the NWOAHM as a genre, as I feel "metalcore" and "groove metal" don't quite adequately describe their sound - metalcore makes assumptions they sound like Unearth etc, and groove metak makes it so they sound like Pantera, and they don't sound overly like either. NWOAHM I think sums it up best, but I still left the other genres, because they do have elements of those.

Secondly, I expanded greatly on the early history of the band, which I found to be not only inaccurate (ie. stating that Andols was the original drummer, Rob was a founding member, etc), but it was far too short. I've expanded it without going into massive detail. I used the site www.robarnoldrocks.com as a reference, but most of the info came from little pieces of knowledge I've picked up about them over the years, having gotten into them just before Pass Out of Existence came out in 2001.

NWOAHM is not a genre. See Talk:Slipknot (band)#Other genres. Otherwise it is ok. But one thing: if the source is for one whole paragraph, you should put it to the end of that paragraph, not into the middle. If it is in the middle, it says that it is only for the upper part of the paragraph. And have also a look at this. It is a simpler way of using sources.
