Chinabounder is the author of his infamous blog, Sex and Shanghai 欲望上海, featuring his Chinese sexual adventures in Shanghai. He claimed he was an Englishman in his 30s teaching English in Shanghai, a professional that requires no skills other than the possession of a Caucasian feature in this China's largest city and commercial center.

In his blog, he describes the details of the many sexual experiences he has had with various Chinese women, from teenage girls to married doctors. He claims that his white English identity can get him any woman in China. In the meantime, he expresses his view that Chinese men are inferior to Western men and and do not know how to treat women in bed. He describes the Chinese society as a less civil one comparing to where he is from. Chinabounder claims that the reason he prefers Chinese women to Western women is that, apart from the "fact" that Chinese women are less demanding than Western women, the language barrier helps create the space for him to avoid being read from page to page by a woman.

The blog produced a large reaction in Chinese internet communities as well as some medias. The Chinese Netizens expressed their anger and some tried to Net hunt the identity of this blogger. Some questioned the authenticity and others believed it was true. Following the unexpected repercussion,the blogger temporarily closed his blog and reopened it a few months later.

A journalist of Associated Press received an email claiming to be the author of Chinabounder writer, saying the stories were practical jokes or performance art. While nothing to prove it was fake,nothing to prove it was ture.
This would not explain why names and personal details of women featured in blog entries have since been changed or erased.[citation needed]
