Milner FAC

Are you going to exspess support or opposes for this article? Buc 19:30, 1 October 2007 (UTC) Just letting you know, other users have comented now. Buc 15:36, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok I've improved the flow of the article now. Just wondering, you've been giving me feedback on this article for a quite a while so how come you didn't mention this before? Buc 07:07, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure you've not mentioned it because otherwises I would have done something about it by now. Buc 18:33, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Well I did keep saying that I want to do that at some piont. If I'd known I might have put it off for a bit.

The prose of this article has been improved now. Buc 21:21, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry if it looks like I'm bugging but you still have Oppose vote on there that I've done my best to address. Please give it a look when you have the time. Buc 07:05, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok clearly you're busy so I'm just going to stike your Oppose for now. Buc 19:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Milner FAC

Being dyslexic I guess I'm not the best person to judge articles when it comes to them being well written. But I did try to model it on cureent FA. I'll ask a copyedit user to take a look at it (if you know of a good one please tell me). Regarding your specific piont about "he stated" ect. You'll have to give me an example of what would work for you. Clearly you can see something I can't because I've proof read it many times as well as compering it to current FA. How about if I put them all in quotes and put "he said" instead? Buc 18:19, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok, how is it now? Buc 10:03, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I'd prefer you told me about these problems on the FAC page. Buc 08:13, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

  • I'd prefer the avoidance of the same old mistakes!! It is very tiring to go back and forth. Chensiyuan 09:22, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

request

Are you any good at copyediting? Buc 15:44, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

I'd recommend a fresh pair of eyes for the Milner article. You could wait till Tony's free, since he's supposed to be as good as it gets. Chensiyuan 03:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Thierry Henry

No problem whatsoever - it makes a welcome change to my usual contributions! I'm just giving it another read through now. I've added another comment to the FAC page that I've noticed there's a mix of Arsenal was and Arsenal were. It needs reverting to one or the other. Peanut4 00:50, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Appearances in UEFA competitions

Why did You delete info about Henry as Arsenal`s top scorer in european competitions ? Shannon7 18:52, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

The "information" had grammar errors, formatting errors and the ref provided did not really back the claim. Chensiyuan 00:44, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Thierry Henry

To be honest, I've not been here long and I spotted Henry on the FAC list so thought would check it out to see a - what I could do b - tips on what to do on other stuff I write.

I'll have another look at the further points raised and look thru the article to see what could be done and let you know, but not sure there's much else I can do. Peanut4 20:43, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I've addressed a few of the points, and added my responses to the FAC talk page. There's a few more still left but I do think one or two are trivial. Peanut4 01:39, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Subordinate Courts of Singapore

Hi, just had a thought. Perhaps you might like to work on the aspects of the article "Subordinate Courts of Singapore" that relate to the history of the buildings occupied by the Subordinate Courts. I'm thinking in particular of the old Ministry of Labour building in Havelock Square which is occupied by the Family and Juvenile Courts. Are you currently in Singapore? If so, you probably have better access to relevant books than I do, as I'm in the UK at the moment. — Cheers, JackLee talk 01:50, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Need your help

i saw that you made a recent edit to the Dallas Mavericks game log for 2007-08, a very minor one on the 18th if you look at the history of the page. yet the results for games played on the 20th and 21st have been put up but this doesn't appear on the history of the page. How is this so? Did the page automatically appear or can you edit a page and have it deleted from the history section. I dont quite get it. Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 09:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

They would appear on the history of the template page not the 0708 page. Chensiyuan (talk) 09:45, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Ah yes, thanks for that and the quick reply. Just one more thing, how can you get to that template page without having to do an edit and therefore it comes up. I found out the url of the template after i edited another teams page but isn't there an easier way?Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 09:59, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, i do not know of an easier way. Perhaps keeping it on your watchlist might help. Chensiyuan (talk) 13:27, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

I apologize for the 3 edit reverts. I have added the citations as you requested. Since these are news articles, I believe they could be readily and easily found for verification. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Palladion (talkcontribs) 13:17, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

THANKS

I just want to say thanks for replying. i think the easiest way to go directly to the log and see the history of it and other templates is just to click edit in regard to that section and then delete the following in the url: &action=edit&section=3. that will then take you directly to the template. im surprised though that there isn't say a link on the 07-08 page that when you click on game log it take you directly to the template. anyway, thanks again Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 02:48, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

I see... you're most welcome too. Chensiyuan (talk) 03:48, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Need your help again

Thanks for the above, that really cheered me up! But i was wondering whether you would be able to add highlighting a team on the NBA standings template that have been set up for each division. I sent a message to Soxrock because he appears under the [1] so i assume he is very important. He did this for the Template:2007-08 NBA Central Division Standings and i tried to copy the format to the others but i just can't get it done. Maybe he will reply soon but since you replied last time so fast maybe if you have time you can do it. No rush, i know your all busy. Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 04:18, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I've tried too; can't seem to get it to work the way it should be... lol. Chensiyuan (talk) 07:42, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Jamario Moon

Hey fellow Raptor fan, there's a newish article out on NBA.com on how "ready" Jamario was for the NBA back in 2001, according to Colangelo, and how he ended up in that free-agent camp (because all of Toronto's picks were traded off). http://www.nba.com/features/moon_071128.html Pandacomics (talk) 22:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Thierry Henry

Just a quick note re:Henry, the infobox and section sub-heading say Juve is 98-99, but yet it says he didn't sign for them until January 1999. Obviously 98-99 could refer to the season but it doesn't quite follow properly in my opinion. Peanut4 17:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Mass Effect ban

Hi! Though the ban had been mentioned by The Straits Times and also Gamespot ... I had felt that since the it had been overturned prior to the game release that the notability of the "controversy" itself had diminished greatly - it sort of seemed like the controversy that almost happened, but cooler heads prevailed. That is entirely my POV and I could be totally mistaken with regards to that controversy's importance to the article. Please revert if you think the information should remain. thank you! --guyzero | talk 11:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi again! I think it was a mistake for me to use humor in my edit description while removing the ban info; I didn't mean to sound so US-centric and hope that the edit itself doesn't also contain that bias. I also wanted to say thank you very much for editing this article. regards, --guyzero | talk 17:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey there, I just saw your edits there, nice job as usual. Now us WP:NBA folk will have to add more online references, especially from ESPN, cnnsi.com or nba.com. Reverts on Toronto Raptors

Hey, wanted to ask you about these two reverts that you made on the Raptors article. I don't really see anything wrong with them, so why change them back? Just looking for a bit of explanation, since I can't make heads or tails of your edit summaries. What does "unn ws" mean, anyway? GlassCobra 02:22, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

The first one was an unnecessary paragraph break. The second did not make the sentence any better. So both were superfluous edits; the version reverted to had been combed over by at least two copyeditors (of which I am not). Chensiyuan (talk) 02:25, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I understand. As a matter of personal courtesy, would you mind being a little clearer with your edit summaries? It's a little tough to wade through all the shorthand. Thanks. GlassCobra 02:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Of course. Although I have to say, after almost 30,000 edits, you're the first to raise this point with me. I think in the articles that I edit frequently, editors have identified me as credible and don't check on my edits all that much. I suppose you could develop your own system of sifting out the immediately suspicious edits... otherwise it's a lot of work. The edit summary has its usefulness, but the edit summary could purport to be truthful but beneath it is actually a vandalism edit (seen lots of that). So one actually has to click on the diff to see if it is a proper edit. In the final analysis, the edit summary is only useful for articles which are heavily edited. I'm not justifying my lack of an edit summary, just explaining my analysis. Cheers. Chensiyuan (talk) 02:36, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm definitely not trying to call your credibility into question in any way, and I apologize if my comment came across as such. As I said, it's merely a point of personal preference, when even after I look at the diffs, I still could not tell what the edit summary was supposed to mean. No offense intended. GlassCobra 02:53, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
No offence taken! Chensiyuan (talk) 02:56, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

User:Colleenthegreat

Hi Chensiyuan! I suspect that this user (Colleenthegreat) is in fact a disruptive user, verging on vandalism. When you have time, please take a look at her contributions - she hasn't been around long, so look at her last 500 contributions. You will see that virtually all edits she has made to articles were just silly comments which were in most cases immediately reverted. Many of her edits are also on user talk pages - and many are vandalism warnings ... but look closer. Her vandalism warnings to anonymous users is itself silly - we all know thousands of non-registered users screw around with pages every day. Many even self-revert! Most are caught quickly ... but I know of no seasoned admin who then leaves a vandalism warning. Why? An anonymous user only has an IP address and for all we know, two hours later or the next day a different person may make good edits from the same address. Or this non-registered vandal is doing this once and will never come back. In the examples I see of Colleenthegreat's "warnings," the only effect she had was to create a talk page for an IP address, in many cases an IP addressed used only once. When I saw her edits to the talk:Jesus page, I thought she was just a total newbie who did not know our policies; then I saw her disregard Andrew c's point about her policies ... and finally I looked at her contributions. I think her account exists only to make disruptive edits. Could you go over her contributions and provide another opinion? Thanks, Slrubenstein | Talk 11:55, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

From our pov it's quite obvious it's him, but I don't mind waiting for more incriminating edits to crop up before making a case. I think his new strategy now is to only go for the jugular edit after some time. Chensiyuan (talk) 11:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

A compromise for the Raptors & Spurs userbox templates

1. I know the photos are not fair use. However, in keeping with the pattern of having the abbreviation in the left of the userboxes, I reverted them to be like the rest of the userboxes. 2. For those who prefer the photos, I have created separate userboxes for the photo-based template: {{User: Chensiyuan/Userboxes/Raptors}} and {{User: Chensiyuan/Userboxes/Spurs}}. Suggestion

Hello Chensiyuan, As we are approaching the end of the NBA regular season, do you think it is worthwhile to put the player stats that are available on each teams template? Just wondering thats all, if you could do one team and i can see the format etc. you put it in and then i will eventually do the rest. Its your choice, maybe this should be a discussion on the NBA project page. Thanks keep it up Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 08:38, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, it sounds plausible, and I won't mind chipping in a little. But feel free to make the prototype though. I'm not good at templates at all. Chensiyuan (talk) 13:59, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
There is a user Gpasqualicchio who did the Cavs player stats for last season which you can see here: click The user has added 6 more stat categories to the current template and im hinting at doing it like this, all we have to do is copy and paste it. Soxrock is on an indefinite wikibreak who created the original templates so its up to you. Happy Wikipeding! Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 02:10, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes I think that's a viable template :) Chensiyuan (talk) 02:12, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Dirk Nowitzki

Hi there. I notice User:Onomatopoeia hasn't made any contributions for more than a week. I've still got Dirk Nowitzki on hold at GA. There are a few outstanding issues at this moment on the talk page. It's probably good enough for a pass already, but I reckon the article is pretty close to a stab at FAC, so was keeping it on hold until everything was resolved, and seeing how far the GAN could take it.

I don't know if you want to try and fix the remaining issues, or have any other suggestions where to head. Peanut4 (talk) 12:12, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there

I removed the list of addresses at this article. I also accidentally removed the image. While I would see why the image should stay, why should the list of addresses?
