The Chevron Tower, 575 Market Street, originally known as the Standard Oil Building, is a skyscraper located in downtown San Francisco's Financial District on Market Street is a 40 story, 574 foot (175 m) office skyscraper completed in 1975. As its name suggests, Chevron Corporation was once headquartered here.[2] The 40 story tower is the taller of the two tower complex of 555-575 Market Street.[2] The shorter tower is known as 555 Market Street.[3] The 311 foot (95 m), 22 story tower was the first tower of the 555-575 Market Street Plaza complex, completed in 1964.[3]
The two buildings are surrounded by small ornamental plazas. Both buildings are terra cotta over a granite base.[4]
