The Chevrolet Aerovette is a concept car that was created by the Chevrolet division of General Motors in 1973. It was designed to succeed the C3 as the next generation Corvette, although it never saw production beyond its prototype. Unlike other Corvettes, the Aerovette was mid-engined and featured gullwing doors that folded as they opened. It was originally planned to use a Wankel Rotary Engine, but was replaced with a small-block Chevy V8 engine due to fuel economy concerns. It used the same transaxle as the Oldsmobile Toronado.
