[edit] Career
Cherish's first single, entitled "Miss P' was produced by Jermaine Dupri, written by Kandi and featured Da Brat. They are an all sister group from Maywood, IL.They had been signed to Warner Bros.' imprint Reprise Records. They can also be found on Da Brat's single "In Luv Wit Chu" in 2003. They also recorded 3 songs for The Powerpuff Girls: Power Pop soundtrack called "Chemical X", "Power of a Female" and "Me and My Girls". They completed a whole album named The Moment that was shelved for undisclosed reasons. After 3 years the group came back with the summer hit "Do It to It" which featured Sean Paul of the YoungBloodZ. The single hit the Billboard Hot 100 at number 12 and entered many other charts including the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs on Billboard and many more. The second single off the album was "Unappreciated".
[edit] 2006: Unappreciated
Unappreciated was Cherish's debut album. They wrote almost the entire album and said this work is so much more mature and themselves than their unreleased previous work. The album had productions from Jermaine Dupri, Don Vito and Jazze Pha. After the summer hit "Do It to It", their debut album was released off Capitol Records on August 15, 2006 and was named Unappreciated. It debuted on the chart at number 4 selling 91,000 copies making it one of the only R&B girl group projects to hit the top 5 on the Billboard 200 in almost a year. The previous group was The Pussycat Dolls with PCD. The album has been certified Gold [1] for shipments of 500,000 units and has sold 730,652 units so far[when?]. The album has spawned three singles "Do It to It", "Unappreciated" and "Chevy" (which did not receive a video).
[edit] 2008: The Truth
Their sophomore album entitled The Truth was released on May 13, 2008. The first single, "Killa" hit the Top 40 on the Pop charts, while the follow-up is "Amnesia". In a recent interview memeber, Fallon, described the album as: "The biggest difference to me is the fact that you grow artistically whenever you’re being creative and we’ve been creative for the past couple of years. Our artistry has grown. When we wrote The Truth, we named the album The Truth because basically every song on the album is from personal experiences and we wanted to get personal with our fans. We want everybody to know that they’re not alone going through these things and we’re here."[2] The album will be released in the UK on May 12th, while the Japanese release is on May 14th and will feature 2 bonus tracks "Do It To It [Rap Remix]" & "Silly".On May 13 on 106 & Park, They stated that they will be going on Tour this Summer. The album only sold 13,000 copies in the first week and debuted at #40 which is very disappointing due to their 1st album selling seven times as much in its first week and debuting at #4. The album is expected to underperform.
