Talk:Charles and Lee-Lee Chan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If this article is about both of Jackie Chan's parents then it should be named after both of them instead of just one. I propose the article be renamed. 134.114.59.41 02:06, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
- How did this article get so long - its longer than Jackies! - Matthew238 03:02, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
I moved the article to the proper name of "Charles and Lee-Lee Chan" to reflect its subject material. I added Lee-lee's info to the opening as well. However, this page is still a horrible mess because it's just a rough collection of material thrown together. It needs lots of work. (Ghostexorcist 15:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC))
Does the fact that they were a famous person's parents qualify them to have a Wikipedia article? Would it be more reasonable maybe to include part of their biographical information as a section in Jackie Chan's article? - Odikuas 14:15, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Agreed - having a famous child doesn't make you famous - this should be a candidate for deletion. Smurfmeister (talk) 09:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, the article is well sourced, and Jackie's family was extensively covered in a documentary "Traces of the Dragon.--60.242.159.224 (talk) 04:35, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
I completely agree with you - also the recent news of Charles' death was widely mentioned on new websites and on Chinese television - therefore he was famous. Nathan (talk) 09:20, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Well sourced? This article uses as sources Jackie Chan's personal website and a website devoted to him. That's not proper reference. Again, apart from the fact that he was Jackie Chan's father, what is his other claim to fame and a Wikipedia article to go with it? Odikuas 10:36, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Exactly! It doesn't matter how 'well sourced' the article is; I could write a well source article on my grandparents, but that wouldn't mean it was relevant to Wikipedia! Smurfmeister (talk) 11:50, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
They were the subject of a documentary Traces of a Dragon , that alone should be enough to keep it on wiki, and charles chan recent death has attracted significant media attention, and his funeral was attended by several important people, with condolences from even more, no brainer.--DaliusButkus (talk) 18:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC) I completely agree with you - this page should be kept, or at least merged with the page for Traces of a Dragon Nathan (talk) 20:18, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
